Visitors Letters 2016-2023

Many people who come to Ithaca fall in love with the island, its' tradtional villages, the people and the life style. Many want to share their holiday experience with others and therefore these pages are open to all to write in and tell us about their time on Ithaca, good and bad experiences, we publish all letters if they are not morally offensive. 5TH APRIL 2024

Dear Erika,  Thank you so much for this website. It is a wonderful way to keep us connected to Kioni. We are returning soon in June 2024 after a long stint, our last visit was in 2014. The website is an absolute wealth of information and a delight to just reminisce. My Mum (Fay Morris) and Aunty Jill Sutcliffe (nee Moraitis) – Cousins to Ilias Moraitis of Kioni, were the inspiration for my husband and I to travel back in 2014 and truly look to discover my family roots. Many of us (from Australia) have been over the years and thanks to websites like yours, we have been able to enjoy all Kioni / Ithaca has to offer. So Thank you again for your dedication to helping us from far away….stay close. Much appreciated - Simone Dall AUSTRALIA (Daughter of Fay Morris (Moraitis), Neice to Jill Sutcliffe (nee Moraitis), 2nd Cousin to Ilias & Mileydis Moraitis.)  See you soon J

Dear Erica, it's been a long time since you posted. I thought you had abandoned us. Happy (not really) to know you were ill and couldn't post news and photos over the past few weeks. Very happy to see you are back. Wishing you a complete recovery. Angela K. Melbourne Australia

Hi Erika, It is good to hear that you are on the road to recovery. We were worried as to the reason for there being no recent updates to your website which we visit frequently. We will be visiting Ithaca again (we are regulars - about our 12th time) later this year after a four-year gap. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Take care. David & Jacqui Anglesey UK
Dear Erica, I am writing to you at this address because I have not figured out how else to do it. First of all, thank you for the work you do which allows me to follow what is happening in Ithaca even when I'm far away. Referring to your idea of transferring Ithaca's diary to some social media platform, I must say that, personally, I don't follow any social media and therefore I would lose the possibility of following life on the island. This would be a great sorrow to me. Best regards Claudio Pennsa IT

Hello Erica I hope this gets through to you. I am a big Ithaca fan and have visited several times over the years. However I am not a big Social Media fan but do check ‘What’s New’ on the ithacagreece.com web site quite often I have seen your recent message asking if you should stop posting updates on ithacagreece.com and my request is that you continue as you are. I know that I am in the minority as far as Social Media is concerned but I do hope you can find the time to carry on with What’s New on the web site. Keep up the great work. Tony Hibbard Maidstone UK

Dear Erica We visited Ithaca twice in 2018 &2019 and really enjoyed our stays. It is a lovely Island and we will visit again soon. Your photos and descriptions of the island are first class and helped us get through covid. Please keep the daily/weekly/monthly updates coming, not everyone uses FB etc the website is perfect. Best wishes and thank you. Chris & Carole Bailey

Please don't stop the news and photos on your site. What a tradtion you've started. Keep going please!! Madelaine Couch

Dear Erika, We have been coming to Ithaki for 20 years, and following your site for almost as long. We love the island, and you help us to stay in touch during the long winter months. As regards your request for reactions to your proposal, I have to say that I am personally not at all into social media, and would therefore be unhappy if you were to proceed in the manner suggested. To give you some idea who we are, we are a retired couple living in France. Getting to our favourite island has become simpler with the introduction of the direct flight from Paris to Kefalonia. Keep up the good work! Stephen (and Anne-Marie) Potter FR

Hi Erica I have seen your message about changing the ithacagreece.com website to another platform & would be quite disappointed if that happens. I have visited Ithaca a number of times-the last visit being last year which was as enjoyable as ever. I look forward to receiving the updates/photos on your website & if possible would like it to continue. All the best Sue Hibbard Maidstone UK

Hello Erika, To answer your question , we are not using any social media networks and we regularly look to your website directly to know whats new in Ithaca. So if you can continue like this, its perfect for us. Happy anniversary to your website, we also were there 20 years ago See you next summer or at least Demetri All the best Isabelle and Jean hendrick FR

Hi Erica, Trust you are keeping well! We have been coming to Kioni since 2004, it felt like home from our first visit, and instantly became one of our "Happy Places"! My Husband died suddenly last November R.I.P ..... Our time in Kioni was always so special, many many memories were made. We were visiting in June, obviously I have cancelled that trip, as the emotions are just too raw. I would like to hope that in time I will be able to visit, but it is very early days! Both my Husband and I regularly visited 'New Updates' on ithacagreece.com ..... please continue with this site, as I know it brings so much joy to so many people! Many thanks for all your work in developing and maintaining this site. Best wishes, Mads Rowsby UK

Hi Erica and Dimitri I have know and loved your website for over 20 years, it is so lovely to be able to see what’s happening on the Island, especially when you are away from it, Please don’t loose the ‘what’s new’ updates, not everyone has Facebook and Instagram, and I know that’s probably a minority, but it’s great to see what’s going on, and the photos are always so beautiful. So please don’t stop doing what you’re doing! It works, it’s fab, it’s great, love it!!!! 😊🌞🌷🌼❤️👍 Wendy

Dear Erika, In your update on 8th May you asked for feedback regarding where you will post your messages. Please keep doing them as you have always been doing them as they are a huge solace to me, and I am sure many others, as I came to Ithaca with my husband for 13 years and the photographs bring back so many memories. My lovely Mike died three years ago and I feel it is unlikely that I will make the trip again (but who knows?) I do not do social media and only have my computer to keep up to date with life. Ithaca.greece is a lovely diversion to catch up with familiar sights and some faces. Your pictures are wonderful. I particularly love the Spring, early summer ones as the flowers are so beautiful. We only came once in May otherwise we came in September to celebrate our anniversary when all was rather parched. I was so sorry to read that you had such a horrid time with flu or whatever it was. I do hope you are fully recovered now. But please keep posting your usual pictures and comments as they are so special to me, and others I'm sure. My best wishes to you and Thank You. Daphne
PS Congratulations on your anniversary!

Dear Erika, Every morning (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31), as soon as I have breakfast, I open my notebook, see my mail and log on to your site to see if you have written anything new and what photographs you have entered. I have been doing this since I bought Byron House and my opinion is to continue in the future as you are doing today. I will see you on July 20, we will be coming to Ithaca for three weeks. Best regards (to you and Demetri). Gherardo (and Manuela) Italy

Erika – for me and I’m sure many others who don’t frequent social media like FB your website updates are viewed daily. Regards George

Congratulations on the 20 year milestone. A fantastic achievement. Maintaining the site would be a daily chore, but although its monetary reward may be low, it is about our love for the island that drives the momentum. For us of Ithacan descent in other countries, it is a spiritual lifeline. For those who have never been there it is a huge Welcome Mat, an enticing incentive to visit. And for an island that depends predominantly on tourism for survival, the importance of this website cannot be overstated for that reason as well. A 20 year photographic and text archive of the island’s cultural, architectural, scenic beauty, visitors, events, religious ceremonies, businesses, and local inhabitants, isn’t a bad thing either. Official recognition and appreciation is now well and truly 20 years overdue. Regards George Florence Melbourne, Australia

Hi Erica, i saw your mesage on the website about stopping new updates and just going to social media. I use facebook and love seeing your photos, but what I love more is your magazine style website that gives us so many more than what facebook and other sites give. Don't stop, please. Caroline UK

Hi All, Congratulations on the 19th anniversary of IthacaGreece.com. In appreciation of all of us who have not been able to visit the island for some time, and for keeping us in contact with our heritage. Enjoyed the Vigla excursion photos. The little church, the dramatic, rocky approaches, the ancient stone walls (Lithies) the probably even more ancient olive tree, the incredible views and lush terrain, and the nice social interaction on the plateau. My mother, whenever she wanted to describe a desolate and inhospitable place, used to say ‘apono sti Vigla’. Regards George Florence, Melbourne Australia

Hello, my name is Daniel. I want to say thank you! For sharing the beautiful and awesome pictures of your home. Your descriptions of the days, are fun and informative. I look forward to reading them several times a week. One day, Lord willing, I will visit your lovely island. I live a few miles north of Boston Massachusetts US. I am not exactly sure how, or why, but I stumbled across your website and have fallen absolutely in love with Ithaca! Hugs, from across the ocean.....🤗 I pray for your people and your family everyday. God bless you, Daniel Germain USA
Dear Erika, How is this for a coincidence? When I wrote about our first visit to Vathy and mentioned the name of the restaurant where we had our first meal.  We always called it the blue chairs but never actually realised it had a proper name.  Lo and behold turned onto your new page and there is was complete with blue chairs! And a name TPEXANTHP ( I think!) Last time we were there it was being run by Sophia (again I think) She has a sister who has a restaurant along the road to Loutses beach.  Small smile for you .... one afternoon a young man approached our table at the "blue chairs".  "Excuse me" he said to Alan "Are you Stan Lee".  Alas no said Alan.  We had to text home  to ask who Stan Lee was.  Wow.  Multi millionaire film maker . Marvel films.  Our grandson sent us a photograph. He was very impressed.  Alan does look a bit like the bold Stan.  Not now thank goodness. He died recently. Regards Norma and Alan.

This photograph and it`s amazing view took us right back to August 2008.  We first went to Ithaca in 2007.  We stayed at Dendra when it was Ricky and Dimitrious.  The next year we had a week at Dendra and the second week at The Boathouse. The very one in the photograph.  Our next door neighbour had a Taverna in the little street running behind the square in Vathy.  We called it the blue chairs.  It was the first meal we had on Ithaca.  Lovely.  Never did get to know it`s proper name. We have returned to Ithaca every year until the enforced stop in 2020.  As soon as we saw the photo on ithacagreece we dragged out the album for 2008 .  Yes. Album in those days.  We have spent a happy hour remembering and chatting about the Boathouse.  Thanks ithacagreece for keeping Ithaca alive for us.  We love clicking on your site and picking out all the places we recognise.  Sometimes people too.  We almost got to meet Erika in Frikes but decided she was enjoying her lunch and didn`t need to be on duty. Happy memories  Norma and Alan Frost.

Ladies and Gentlemen
I am writing this Mail to you, so you can prevent further damage to your wonderful village in the future time.

We have arrived with my SY APSOS yesterday at noon. We have been surprised by the beauty of this village Frikes. We had a wonderful dinner in one of the good restaurants at the water. We went back to our boat at around 21:30h. At 22:00h the local disco started with music at a extremely loud level we have never had before at any places in Greece. At around 01:00h I took my Dinghy and drove to the town. Before I went to the Disco I talked to several people in town about their opinion (2 restaurants and a mini-market) I also checked with the Sailboats in the harbor.

All of them stated very clear that this noice is killing them and one citizen asked me please call the Police and gave me the telephone number to do that.

Before I called the police I talked to the Disco owner to please reduce to a noice level that everyone can live with. This discussion did not help at all.

At 01:29h I have called the Police the first time ( 2674 0332205 ). The Police told me that he doesn’t have a car to come out to Frikes. But he would call the disco. But there was no change at all. He also mentioned that I am the only one that called and complained.
At 02:48h I called the second time with the same result.
I know that a lady from one of the Sail Yacht has called shortly before 04:00h she also got the same answer from the police.
What is also important to know that my SY APSOS was about 300 mtr. away from the Disco under ancor.

There was no sleep possible that night. Please do something. A lot of sailers told me that they would never come back to this place !

I am available for any question you might have.

Regards - Werner J. Kunz Germany
Hi Erika, I just love your website and photos, thank you so much.  We were hoping to be back out to Ithaki as soon as travel allowed this year, unfortunately Carol’s chemotherapy has taken a turn for the worse and she is in hospital at the moment.  Will we be there in time for the party on Loutsa beach?, who knows.  We would both love to be sitting in the square in Vathy watching the world go by as she recuperates and I try to get just a little bit better at speaking Greek. It is hard to believe that a thought like that makes your heart ache. However, the reason I am writing is about your appeal for Christina Rizou. Do you have her email? Two things. I have a small dinghy in Vathy which can be rigged in various ways, either simply or as a trapeze boat.  It is not brilliant, but could be fun and it is a shame if it sitting unused.  Also, I am a member of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club in the UK ( which has many olympic sailors as members) and I am involved with and help run some of the junior racing.  I do not know ( as I only thought about it as I looked at some of your recent photos), but maybe there is some way in which I could help. It would be an absolute pleasure if I could. Best wishes, Steve Green

Dear Erika, We are sorry to hear that you have been ill and so glad that you are back and on the mend. We have really missed your regular updates. Whenever we are feeling low we visit your site to cheer ourselves up by viewing your wonderful photos of your fabulous island. As far as we are concerned, you are Ithaca. It is 10 years since our last visit, an absence as long as Odysseus, during which time we have been exploring the rest of Greece, and, like him, we long to come back. John & Jacky Oakley
Good morning,

My name is Paul Vassett and I live in Melbourne, Australia. My grandfather was Haralambous Vassilopoulos who was born in Stavros, Ithaki around 1882. He emigrated to Melbourne around 1900. In 1987 I visited the beautiful village Stavros with my future wife (Ekaterina Gryllakis from Crete) and through her I discovered a number of relatives including one Gerasimos Vassilopulos, a second cousin of mine.

As I am trying to obtain Greek citizenship through descent via my Grandfather, my question is do you think his local church or a council office (?) in Stavros would be able to provide me with a certified copy of his birth certificate and could you possible provide me with a contact phone number or email to enable me to get things started?

I would appreciate any help you could provide and trust that I am not inconveniencing you in any way.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi Erika, Just wanted you to know that we are thinking of you all !!!  Unbelievable images from Frikes and Kioni, makes our hearts bleed, especially as we left a piece of our hearts there back in 2004, and have visited most years since !!!  Intend to donate once the donation issues with sites have been sorted.  Take care !!!  Sending you all, love, strength and belief.  Best wishes, Tony and Mads Rowsby xxxxxx

Dear Erika, I was so saddened to see the damage done to Frikes and Kioni over the weekend. Hopefully everyone is safe.  I know the people of these communities will find the strength to rebuild their beautiful villages.  Our thoughts are with you all and we send positive vibes from Australia.  My family and I are so sorry.  Jill Sutcliffe (nee Moraitis) (Ilias Moraitis (Kioni) Cousin)

Hi Erika, You probably won't receive this email communication if the internet is down, but when it is up and running I just want to all to know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and hope the beautiful island of Ithaca and the locals are not too badly damaged by the recent storm. Keep safe. Love Jenny & Bryan Newman Burgess Hill, West Sussex xx

Dear Erika, Writing to  thank you for helping to keep us sane during lockdown!  Our first visit to Ithaca was in 2007.  Fell in love with it immediately.  Felt like Greece did in the 1980`s.  Returned every year ever since.  Until the virus!  So sorry not to be able to come this year.  Glad that lots of visitors are able to get there and enjoy everything Ithaca has to offer. Plus helping to keep economy going.  Bit envious mind. We have followed your news letter for years.  Love it right through the winter.  So this year it has been extra welcome.
Thanks for keeping us  in touch with all the places we love .  Keep up the good work. Best regards Norma and Alan Frost

Good morning. I am writing to say how much we enjoy the regular postings with lovely photographs on life on Ithaka, we have enjoyed two, two week, holidays on Ithaka in the last two years and Ithaka is my favourite of all the Islands we have visited. It’s lovely to see the island coming back to life and we will, when able, come back. Greece seems to have controlled the virus better than the UK, It’s very strange here especially as we are in our mid 60s which means more isolation etc.Thank you for brightening up our life and keep up the good work. Best wishes Chris & Carole Bailey

Hello dear friends, Thinking of you in these introspective, surreal times and hope all is as well as can be expected and you are all healthy! The images of Ithaki are gorgeous, as always, and we very much hope we will be able to come this summer ( without students, as all travel abroad programs have been cancelled). Erika, are you back on Ithaki? Jessica, how is your baby? Precious and incredible, I am sure! We are adjusting to the new Covid protocol and luckily live in a progressive state with terrific leaders and conscientious people. I, unfortunately, have had to.stop, all my volunteering, but have enjoyed time doing yoga, reading, cooking, gardening, taking walks , listening to music etc. Nikos is teaching his classes on-line, so is still able to engage with kids. Spring is gorgeous here, and the sun and flowers brighten spirits. Be well and can’t wait to see you again. Love and Happy Easter! Cynthia

We will miss our usual visit to the Island this Easter. I think this must be the most iconic view from Dexa beach, our home from home. Warm regards to you Erika, and to all on Ithaki. Love Pete and Gwyn Clayton from the little white house above the bay.

Hello Erika,
Thank you for the lovely photographs on the ithaca.greece website. It keeps our spirits lifted while we endure these dreadful times of isolation. Bryan and I are always thinking of you and our Ithacan friends on the island. We may not get to visit this year and will miss you all terribly. So in the meantime, keep posting the beautiful photographs and bring the magic of the island to our home.
If Kiki in the supermarket has an email address and you could forward this to us, that would be really great. We would love to say hello. Wishing you all good health and hope to see you again soon one day.
Love and best wishes from Jenny & Bryan Newman from Burgess Hill

Hi Erika, Missing Kioni so much and Dion and his family. Hope you and your family are safe and well. Here in England it’s very worrying lots of people have died from Coronavirus over 20,000 very scary. We are not working only go out for food every two weeks and for exercise. The only good thing is the weather has been very nice and Les and I have been busy doing lots of jobs round the house and in the garden. Les has been busy making bench, bird house, bird feeder and herb box’s. Amie and Ryan who you put on your web site in July were supposed to get married in July but that will be cancelled heartbreaking. But we are safe. One day we will be back. Take care. Regards Yvonne & Les Few

Good morning Erika, hope you and the island are free of the blight. Social distancing works, everyone here is doing it, mostly with a smile. Wearing gloves very fashionable and necessary. You need to meet Marina, and she needs to visit Ithaca. Panic buying here for toilet rolls has calmed down, 2 metre rule being observed in shops and supermarkets, no surprise that in America there’re panic buying guns. We’ll all get through this, no other choice but for everyone to do the right thing. Keep well, regards Clive UK

Wishing ithaca greece a very Happy New Year. Please don't stop doing what you're doing. It gives us all alot of pleasure during our dark winter days and gives us so much information for our holidays when we make our plans. Thankyou so very much!!! Janice Fellow

Thank you so much for your wonderful photos and comments.  I will be back as soon as possible, can’t wait. I hope you had an excellent Christmas and all very best wishes for the New Year. Please keep up the excellent work. Steve Green

Congratulations on the 16th! Thank you for the daily Ithaca connection, appreciate the dedication in sharing Ithaca with the world. George Florence Melb Aus

Happy Birthday ithaca greece! Mary and Paul UK

Hi Erica, In this part of North West England preliminary fracking has been stirring major protests for some years, tests being halted due to earthquakes, minor by Greek standards but historically Lancashire isn’t really known for ground vibrations, Look up “ Lancashire fracking and earthquakes “ .. l don’t think you need to be expert geologist to realise that fracking anywhere in Greece make any kind of sense no matter what cost benefits might arise. You’re right to voice concerns in all respects. Best wishes Clive UK

Hello from Australia, My name is Linda Povis and we are searching for the family or family history of our dear patriarch Basil Povis. He is now a sprightly 91 years old and born in England in 1928. He has always believed his Father, Guiseppe/Giuseppe Paris to have been from Malta and of Maltese descent. Recent DNA results have given us a huge surprise and indicate he has a strong Greek heritage originating from Ithaca and very little Maltese lines. His Father Guiseppe's name was anglicized by immigration to George Povis when he settled in England on leaving the Navy in early 1922-23. Guiseppe died when Basil was a small boy and his Mother Mabel Mathews (an Englishwoman) died shortly after. Basil grew up believing his name to be Povis until the discovery of his Father's Naval War Service records were located (4 years ago) He was left with nothing else about his Father, not even a photograph and has only a 6-year-old child's memory of him. We would love to be able to find something about his Father for him and a photo of family would be amazing. DNA analysis has provided us with the very, very strong connection to Ithaca and the names Grivas, Maroules, Maroulis, Ducas, Phematicatos, Houvadas, Vange, Portas, Fotopolous, Stasios, Portas, Karavatas, Ephimia Adilinis, Raft and Reftopols. As Basil is 91 we realize our task may be a difficult one. I saw your lovely website and your stories of 'The people of Ithaca' and thought someone may recognize his name or remember something from so long ago.His connections with the people mentioned are 4th cousin line and so would be Grandfather connection through to today. Long shot for sure!! I have attached some photos of Basil as a younger man and a recent one. Maybe someone will see a resemblance to a family line in Ithaca?!

1. Bas young (maybe 30) Basil recently The rest are of his daughter Rebecca His younger son Matthew and 3 grandchildren Older son John from 1st marriage with daughter Rebecca from 2nd marriage He has always said his Father was the image of the actor Edward G Robinson Many thanks for reading our email and maybe, just maybe someone may know or recognise something or someone. Warm regards, The Povis family.

Hello, I hope you can help me, i am looking for the town that my family came from in Ithaka, i want to come over this year and see the island my father grew up in. I don't want too much information just the area and then i will go from there, my father passed away and i cannot remember where he is from. His name is:- Gerassimos DEFTEREOS - his father's name was Gregory DEFTEREOS and his mother ARISTEA DEFTEREOS My father had a brother COSTA DEFTEREOS and a sister who i think her name is Julie DEFTEREOS and has since married and i think she now lives in Athens. My father would be in his 80's now so it has been a while since he was there, he came to Australia back in the 1950's on the boats with his brother. I think my Grandfather was in the local council? If you cannot help me can you please advise me of who I can ask? The internet is not being very helpful in this regard. I appreciate any information you can give me or where i could find out. Thankyou for your time Regards Aristea Deftereos

My late father, Georgios Kolivas was born in Kioni on 25th July 1899. I am trying to write a book about him for my family. I know his father was Andreas Kolivas and his mother was Ekaterina Karantzis (I think she died in 1907 but I don't know any details of her death) If anyone can help me with details of his family, I would love to hear from them. My father came to Australia in 1913 as his father was already living in Perth and sent for him to come out and work for him. Thanking you in advance, Thalia Phelps

Hello Erika, just want to say a huge thank you for your fabulous web site. You brighten up our days and sometimes cool them down. Thank you thank you. Happy New Year. Sherry

Some times, we dont need  words, just dreams: nice weather, sweet sea & one island not so far... Merry Xmas & Best Wishes 2018!!!  Juan   Kali Xronia!!!!

Thank you for the beautiful photos and commentary throughout the year (and it was good seeing you in October (2017).We appreciate the work both of you do to display the Community to us here in Melbourne. Our best wishes to you both and a safe 2018. We will be on Ithaki early June see you then.  Kind Regards, Gwen & Chris Brickhill Canterbury Melbourne.   PS: Positive news re Ferries well done.

Great to hear about the possibility of the Patras Ferry coming back. Keep us updated. Your ferry troubles have us all troubled these past few years. Good luck and keep up the great work on the home site. T. Saunderson UK

Hi Erica, We've noticed you talk alot about the weather lately. Is there no goss? news?. Shane UK originally from Oz.

Dear Erika,  Greetings from far-away Australia, I hope you are all doing well.  Your 'October in Ithaca' essay is great, as is all your photo essay work.  Just a minor comment though.  I know it is sometimes difficult, but please try not to publish photos of people with cigarettes in their hands or in their mouth.  It sets a bad example for the younger generations.  Regards Nick Sikiotis

It is a disgrace that the Greek Government does not subsidise the Patra to Ionian Islands route. Obviously the route is not financially viable as a commercial concern otherwise the private line operators would be able to run it. It is unfair to blame the shipping lines.  It always seemed odd that the prices charged seemed way below cost when they were running. A 2 or 3 round trips a week Ionian – Patra frequency would be better than none. The cost should be seen by the Government as investment  an essential service– bringing valuable foreign currency to the Ionian helps the local economies, who now are basically totally dependent on tourism, and in turn it helps the national economy of Greece. George Florence Melbourne Australia

Dear Erica, We have just returned from Ithaca after two wonderful weeks.  We were at Rementzo taverna whenyou were there for lunch.  I was delighted to see you and asked the young woman serving to pass on a message. It was to tell you that your photographs and information keep us going through the winter.  Feels like being part of the Ithaca family.  It`s our 10th visit and we are looking forward to many more.  Keep up the good work. Regards Norma and Alan Frost.

Good Morning Erika, Again we are looking forward to our 9th consecutively to Ithaki in 3 weeks. Thank you and Dmitri (we think), for the magnificent presentation of the Beach Manager. We know Takis well, even though we frequent alternate beaches. Takis spent Summer in Melbourne which we are sure you are aware. We spent time with him taking him around including a visit to see Dennis  Sikiotis at his Nursing Home also caught up with Laki. Thanks for,  (as usual), the News and travel updates you provide, much appreciated. Looking Forward to seeing you both again. Gwen & Chris Brickhill .Melbourne

Hi Erica,  I am still enjoying you website immensely.  My first contribution being Visitors Letters, 2006, Page 6.  Unfortunately, I haven't been back since 2000 but my nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews are now making the trip to Kioni.  All of them loving Ithaki but particularly Kioni, the birthplace of their grandfather/great-grandfather.  Luckily we get news of the family - Panayiota (aunt), Ilias (cousin), Mileydis, and the locals - Captain Dion Dellaportas, Jenny (Spavento) from them on their return.  Every time I log onto the site, I recall fond memories of your beautiful island.  Best wishes to all in Kioni.  Thank you Erica for a job well done!  Cheers, Jill Sutcliffe (Moraitis)

Have just seen the photographs of the production of the Murderesses of Papadiamanta and so wish I could have been there! Seeing familiar faces on stage and in the audience, relaxed and without the summer pressure was wonderful. Congratulations to all involved with the performance and I am sure they all had a marvellous time together. As long standing Ithacan fans we are so greatful that each year we are allowed to share your beautiful island for a short time and never cease to be amazed at the warm welcome we receive. Looking forward to our visit to Kioni in September and wishing all islanders health and happiness and a good season. Regards Marie Bush UK

Hi Erica, so happy to have you back. We have really missed your photographs and news while you were in Australia. Keep up the good work. Best Caroline UK
